The new Yorkers have always been proud of the quality of the water which flowed from the taps in their homes. However, according to a recent study, in fact, the situation with water is not so happy.
Earlier this week, the nonprofit organization Environmental Working Group (EWG) has published detailed information about toxic chemicalsthat are present in drinking water systems across the country. Data obtained from the Department of health and the research EWG, show that drinking water in new York are not quite consistent with the recommendations health.
In the water were found six different pollutantsthat are associated with cancer. Their level significantly exceeds the recommendations set by health authorities, but not beyond statutory norms. In other words, chemicals, among which chloroform, bromodichloromethane and dichlorooctane acid, in water little more than I would like, but not so much to be a serious problem for the city authorities.
But even such a small amount it creates risks to the health of new Yorkers. For example, according to the recommendations of the health authorities, the amount of chloroform in water should not exceed the proportion of one to a billion, which, according to EWG, corresponds to one case of cancer per million inhabitants. The level of chemical substances in the water of new York make up 30.9 billion, which is a little scary.
