Runners, pedestrians, cyclists, skiers on rough terrain and almost everyone who can move legs in the near future will be able to walk on a new trailthat will stretch from Manhattan to the border with Canada. The budget of new York state will be allocated $ 200 million.

The new road will be the largest in the state multi-purpose trail in the country. The project will bring together two existing, but incomplete trails — Hudson River Valley Greenway (currently over 50%) and Erie Canalway (80% completed). Trail Empire State Trail will begin in Battery Park City, stretching to the canadian border in the North Country, and from Albany to Buffalo.

The new trail is designed to provide residents and visitors of the state access to the natural treasures of new York, to diversify tourism to increase economic activity throughout the state and help protect the environmental resources of new York for future generations.

According to the Governor’s office, trails Hudson River Valley Greenway and Erie Canalway already bring to the state approximately USD 21 million and 253 million, respectively. Authorities believe that the removal of spaces between these two tracks will be an economic boon for the state of new York, where tourism has reached record levels.

It is expected that the trail the Empire State Trail will be completed by 2020.
