A young American smuggled drugs from Mexico using drones

Last week was detained 25-the summer citizen of the USA Jorge Edwin Rivera, who used a rather unconventional method of smuggling drugs from Mexico in San Diego, CA – with civil unmanned aerial vehicle (drone).

This was reported on the official website of Customs U.S. customs (U.S. Customs and Border Protection).

August 8 employees of the specified service in San Diego heard the characteristic drone of noise in the sky, and noticing it flying over the border fence, followed the unit on the ground.

At a distance of 1.8 km from the border with Mexico, at the intersection of Servano Avenue and Valentino Street, stood a river that controls the apparatus remotely.

The drone landed on a Bush which was next to Jorge. He was seized red-handed – methamphetamine in the lunchbox and bag with 6 kg of the same drug type. Approximate value of all seized from Jorge banned substances is $46,000.

«Employees of the U.S. border patrol in San Diego noticed the drone flying over the border fence and arrested a man on meth, the drone landed and hid next to him.»

The detainee admitted that trades this business since March; to smuggle methamphetamine so he was already more than five times.

This activity was for the river by way of earnings, but due to the fact that he was arrested, put $1,000 he did not receive.

Typically, the smuggling of drugs using drones is not a very popular method. The thing of substantial limitation of «drones»: they can raise only a relatively small weight, their noise attracts attention, and battery ends quickly.

Now Jorge is in custody without bail. The hearing in his case is scheduled for September.
