This is the rat world, and we live in it. But new York has its heroes — small, furry, sharp-toothed heroes. A «squad» of dogs hunting rats all over the city, protecting people from the tailed pests.

The society for the suppression of the rat R. A. T. S (The Ryder»s Alley Trencher-fed Society) exist about 25 years. The squad includes border Terriers, Fox Terriers, dachshunds and other dogs who have natural tendencies to hunt rodents and passed the necessary training.

For his service dog, Tanner, Merlin, Rommel, Markus, Paco, JJ, Lacey, mighty, Gracie, Moz, Jiggy and Daisy – received the «award for courage», which included bones and beef jerky.

Two-legged companions to Piper, including the founder of R. A. T. S. of Richard Reynolds, received the thanks of the city Council.
