Today in Astoria just opened a new ferry route

So, the day has come. This morning NYC Ferry has launched a new, fourth, the water route that connects Astoria in Queens and Wall Street. The ferry system serves over 1.5 million passengers since launching in may, now their number will increase significantly. 93% of respondents, according to the city authorities, very happy with the service and happy to use the services of a NYC Ferry.

Route «Astoria» begins with the Hallets Point Peninsula, followed by a stop at Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, then Roosevelt Island, East 34th Street and finally Wall Street. The whole trip takes 47 minutes. Departure every 25 minutes during rush hour.

«Our streets are too crowded, our subway is too crowded, but our waterways are a pleasant and open to all, so we knew that we needed again to pay attention to the water,» said new York mayor bill de Blasio.

The quay where the trip starts, is in the area of 3-10 Astoria Blvd. near the Astoria houses NYCHA.

The cost of the ferry ticket is 2.75 dollars.

As previously reported, next summer the city plans to open 2 of the route, the first station which will be located in the Lower East side and Soundview in the Bronx.
