In the Atlantic ocean has formed a new hurricane Ophelia

Another tropical storm formed in the Atlantic ocean on Monday, the 15th this season, was named Ophelia.

Still the storm did not seem to represent the same threat to Islands and coastlines, Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria.

«Forecasts currently show that Ophelia poses no threat to land,» said CNN meteorologist Judson Jones.

New storm formed in the open Atlantic from a tropical depression, according to the National hurricane center. It moves at a speed of 40 mph and is located about 860 miles southwest of the Azores. On Friday, the storm was named hurricane, it has 1 category of danger on Saffir-Simpson scale.

Meteorologists say that the hurricane is too far away from land and poses a risk only to aircraft and shipping routes should be adjusted.

The current season is the most active Atlantic hurricane season since 2005, when hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and Mississippi. In this year, there were registered 28 storms, 15 of which became hurricanes.

«The peak of hurricane season falls in the first or second week of September, but the season will not end until the end of November. October is usually active, and there may be some more personal storms,» said CNN meteorologist Jennifer Varian.
