In the Bay area of San Francisco is raging the strongest storm in the last 12 years. 5 people were killed

16 and 17 January on the coast of San Francisco, a cold front collided with the atmospheric river — a band of moisture that formed over the ocean. It caused a powerful storm. The Northern part of the Bay took the worst hit. Severe thunderstorms and winds up to 112 km/h — that’s what makes this storm the most dangerous and intense over the past 12 years.

At least 5 people became victims of bad weather. In Auckland, 42-year-old Anthony Rippey fell the tree. He died on the spot. 3 people including year-old child, was killed in an accident during the storm. Another man also died in the crash. On the roads of the real chaos began. The entire environment of the highway patrol every five minutes reported new clashes, fallen trees, flooded roadway, or a traffic light.

Because in Northern California for a long time the rain continues to fall today in some areas of the Bay floods.

A flood warning is played today in SONOMA County until 8:15 am. On the shoreline of San Francisco until 9 am acted the notice of coastal flooding due to strong winds and surf. Peak tidal rises were between 7 and 8am. The waves reached a height of about 10 meters.

In Oakland dropped about 2.5 inches of rain, and in the Sierra Nevada — a large amount of wet snow. In mountainous areas starts very heavy snowfall, which may develop into a snow storm. Many airports on the coast of the delays have lasted up to 3 hours.
