In California, over districts of Mariposa and Madera noticed a tornado

The national weather service in Hanford (NWS) confirmed the fact that the EFo tornado in the County of Mariposa (CA) during the afternoon storm Saturday, February 2.

The staff of the NWS was examined Ben Hur Road, where the witnesses withdrew tornado on video. They noted that the video is visible a small flash of lightning when storm clouds began to slowly converge in a funnel. Meteorologists reported that this is «a clear sign of a tornado».

The surveyors found «indicators of harm» inflicted by the tornado. This broken tree branches and uprooted from the land of grass. According to meteorologist Jim Bagnall, a tornado formed at 13 km South of Mariposa, while the wind speed reached 105-137 km/h.

The national weather service on Saturday issued tornado warning in the County of Mariposa. It applies to areas Midpines and Bootjack North-East from Fresno County. Weather service wrote on Twitter at 15:50, a tornado warning remains in effect until 16:15.

The weather service also reported that during a storm, possible hail. Approximately 8.5 thousand people were subjected to the potential threat of a tornado, including 9 schools and a hospital. About the victims have not yet been reported.

Twitter published a picture of dark clouds with a single stripe that is similar to the funnel of a tornado. The user Kennett Ryan wrote that the picture was taken about Chowchilla (County of Madera, California).
