At least 12 people were killed when a bus carrying tourists from the cruise ships of Royal Caribbean (Celebrity Equinox and the Serenade of the Seas) to the Mayan ruins Chacchoben in the Eastern part of Mexico turned over on the highway. The incident happened Tuesday morning between the towns of Majahual and El Cafetal in Quintana Roo. The bus was carrying 31 passengers, the guide and driver.
Among the injured in the accident 7 Americans and 2 Swedish citizen. All hospitalized 18 people. The nationality of the other victims and victims is not yet established.
The cause of the accident is not established. The road was dry and the weather is clear, therefore, investigators have yet to determine how the bus could by itself capsize, because the accident was not involved other vehicles.
