A luxury brand under a barrage of criticism after he presented the costume, like the uniforms of prisoners of Nazi concentration camps

Fashion «luxury» brand Loewe has withdrawn from sale the suit, which was criticized for its resemblance to uniforms worn by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps during the Second world war.

The Spanish fashion house, owned by conglomerate LVMH, has published a statement apologizing for black-and-white striped ensemble, which consists of button-down shirts and striped pants.

Unable to see anything but concentration camp uniforms in this $1,840 ensemble from @loewe’s William De Morgan capsule, a collection meant to “capture a freedom of imagination”. But with the particular stripe proportions and layout, uniform-style garments, and prominent chest patches, there’s not actually much left to the imagination when the resulting look is so uncannily disturbing. Fast fashion retailers like Urban Outfitters and Zara have had similar products slip through the cracks, which were generally blamed on third-party vendors and swiftly destroyed. Loewe has week-old comments calling this out on post featuring a black and white image from @britishvogue … when will we see a response? • #Loewe #jwanderson #williamdemorgan #loewewilliamdemorgan #britishvogue #capsulecollection #fashion #designer #luxury #luxurybrand #fail #insensitive #holocaust #holocaustmemorial #uniform #prisoner #stripes #stripeshirt #pajamas #history #wwii #loewebag #jwandersonconverse #jwandersonxuniqlo #fashionfail #zara #urbanoutfitters #model #news #dietprada

The costume was sold as part of a collection Loewe «William De Morgan» inspired by the British ceramic artist of the 19th century.

Diet Prada, a popular account on Instagram, which encourages big brands copy designers, published a photo of the shape of concentration camp prisoners, and there is a photo of a suit from Loewe.

«In this ensemble for $1840 from Loewe can’t see anything but the form of Nazi concentration camp prisoners wore during the Holocaust. The particular proportions of the bands, the visible spot on the chest (where the Jews was a «yellow triangle» or other «marking» prisoners, for example, homosexuals or Gypsies — USA.ONE) do not leave room for the imagination. The resulting image is very disturbing,» — said in the caption under the post.

In Loewе noted that «never intended» to create clothes that would cause memories of one of the darkest periods of human history.

«Our image could be misinterpreted as belonging to one of the worst moments in the history of mankind. It was never our goal and we apologize to anyone who might think that we are insensitive to the sacred memories», — said the representatives of the brand.

For Loewe said that the costume was removed from their commercial offer.
