Died the oldest man in the world: he said that the secret of longevity – in a smile

A resident of Japanwho had earlier in February, the certificate of the Guinness Book of records as the world’s oldest man, died at the age of 112 years.

On 12 February, the Guinness Book of world records handed over the certificate to Titaco Watanabe.

Japanese newspaper Mainichi, citing sources in the family, Watanabe said that he died on Sunday, February 23. According to relatives, the man could not eat, had a fever, and it became difficult to breathe for a few days before his death.

Watanabe left 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great grandson.

Titaco Watanabe was born in 1907 and worked in Taiwan for 18 years. After returning to Niigata in Northern Japan, he worked in the prefectural government before retirement.

In retirement, he grew fruits and vegetables on the family farm and was very fond of bonsai, the traditional Japanese art of growing small trees.

When Watanabe was 107 years old, in response to a question about the secret of his longevity he said that we need to continue to smile, to forget bad things and not get angry.

A branch of the Guinness Book of records in Japan expressed condolences to the family of Titaco Watanabe.

The oldest woman on the planet is also Japanese — the Kana Tanaka, who is now 117 years old.
