During the isolation of Japan graduates were replaced by robots

In Japan, now is the time of the spring graduation ceremonies that were canceled because of the quarantine. However, a Japanese University found out that students were able to participate in the ceremony, driving the robots and avatars just not leaving the house, according to Reuters.

Robots «Newme», developed by ANA Holdings, were dressed in graduation caps and gowns, and their «face» was represented by the tablets, which was broadcast via video link the faces of graduates of Business Breakthrough University in Tokyo. Students can control the robots remotely from home and using their laptops.

One by one the robots moved to the podium, and the rector of the University Kenichi omae personally handed diplomas, placing them on a rack installed in the robot’s body.

Unfortunately, while the robots were only four graduates, who were able to manage them remotely, but the University hopes that soon other schools will also be able to practice such a method of mass gatherings during the quarantine.
