Russian actor Mikhail Efremov was found guilty of a fatal road accident that occurred in the center of Moscow on June 8. He was sentenced to 8 years in a general regime colony.
The actor was ordered to be taken into custody in the courtroom. He was also deprived of the right to drive transport for 3 years. The eldest son of the deceased — Sergei Zakharov, into whose car Efremov crashed — will receive compensation in the amount of 500 thousand rubles.
According to Meduza's correspondents who were present in the courtroom, both Efremov and his wife met the verdict in silence. According to RBC, the defense does not plan to appeal the verdict.
Initially, the prosecution demanded that the actor be sentenced to 11 years in prison — almost the maximum possible term. The defense, in turn, asked not to deprive the defendant of his freedom or send him to a colony-settlement.
