The baby with a hare lip adopted an adorable rescue dog — also born with a hare lip. When Bentley Boyers of Jackson County, Michigan went to a shelter near his home last week, he knew immediately that he and the adorable 2-month-old puppy were made for each other.

“[My husband] called me on FaceTime and said, 'There's a dog with a cleft lip here.' — recalls Bentley's mother, Ashley — I immediately replied: “Take her. We need it. »

“For Bentley, having something in common with the puppy means a lot. He will be able to grow up thinking that he and the dog are alike. »

Ashley and her husband Brandon immediately agreed to the adoption and took their new pet home last Friday.

Bentley was born with a cleft palate (also known as a cleft lip), a minor defect in appearance that usually occurs when half of the baby's palate is not closed in the womb. After the birth of Bentley, it was difficult to eat, but since then he has undergone corrective surgery and leads a completely normal life.

To date, the puppy has not undergone any operations, however, the shelter management assures that they are not necessary — and the cleft lip will not affect the dog's quality of life.
