New Yorkers strolling through Battery Park on Tuesday morning came face to face with Donald Trump. More precisely, with a «living statue» depicting Trump and being part of an eccentric installation. It shows a gilded Trump, club in hand, riding a golf cart into the tombstones symbolizing those killed by the coronavirus.

An exposition entitled «The Last Spurt» appeared next to pier A in the center of the park. It was created by the group of artists and public figures The Trump Statue Initiative.

Trump's golf car, which holds the club like a saber, is pushed by Fox News anchors Laura Ingram and Sean Hannity, while a cameraman is behind them filming the action. The inscriptions on the tombstones attract no less attention.

One of them reads: «In memory of 'what it is',» alluding to Trump's infamous comment on the rise in coronavirus deaths. Another plaque reads: “Dedicated to the memory of the 'losers', which refers to the alleged comments of the president about the dead US military.

At the base of the installation you can see the last inscription: «Donald Trump, destroyer of civil rights and freedoms, 2016-2020.»

Project curator Brian Buckley said in an interview that his team has already installed similar installations in Washington, DC and Portland, Oregon, earlier this summer — with the aim of giving Americans «food for thought.»

“Now the news follows each other so quickly. Losers were talked about for three or four days, and then they just disappeared from the headlines. — explains Buckley — I want to pause and make voters think about such moments properly, decide for themselves: «Does this suit me?» If not, then you should vote for the resignation of this president. »
