Persimmon reduces the likelihood of contracting coronavirus, scientists find

Many fruits are known for their health-promoting properties, including the fight against coronavirus.

Scientists from Nara Medical University (Japan) have found that persimmons can reduce the likelihood of contracting COVID-19, — writes the magazine «Profile». Experts found this out by mixing the substances contained in the fruit with the saliva of a coronavirus infected.

According to experts, tannins are the cause. They not only give persimmons its famous astringent taste, but also reduce infectious activity to one ten thousandth.

The next stage in the research is clinical trials. Scientists plan to figure out how tannins will work outside the laboratory.
