For Joe Biden, 69,759,833 Americans have already voted. This is the largest number in US history.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden received the most votes in the history of a US presidential election.

The 77-year-old former vice president has 69,759,833 votes so far, according to the Associated Press. This is even more than the number of Americans who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 (he received 69,498,516 votes).

Currently, Biden is ahead of Trump by about two and a half million voters, however, this does not mean that he has an election victory in his pocket: the result of the race will depend on which of the candidates is the first to get the required 270 electoral votes. Biden now has 238, while the incumbent has 213.

In 2016, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton also received the most popular vote, with 65,853,514, compared to Trump's 62,984,828. However, she failed to get enough votes in the Electoral College, which cost Clinton the victory. Since then, the authorities have repeatedly heard calls to change the electoral system so that «all votes are taken into account.»
