The head of the Russian foreign Ministry said that the meeting of Ministers of 20 countries in Vancouver (Canada) on sanctions against North Korea will not lead without the participation of the Russian Federation and people’s Republic of China.
«With all due respect to those who started this initiative, I don’t expect anything productive, just nothing has happened are counterproductive,» – said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on Twitter.

From 15 to 17 January in Vancouver the representatives of France, Australia, UK, Philippines, India, Japan, South Korea and other countries involved in the Korean war 1950-53, will discuss the issue of sanctions to the DPRK. The meeting will be present and Pentagon chief James Mattis, as well as military leaders of other countries.
Despite the de-escalation of relations between North and South Korea on the eve of the winter Olympic games in Pyeongchang, these countries are ready to introduce more effective sanctions to force North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons.
Canadian and American officials say that the meeting will discuss the possibility of application of wide-ranging U.S. sanctions, including limiting access of Pyongyang to petroleum products, crude oil and industrial goods.
China, the main ally of North Korea and major trading partner, has previously supported the successive sanctions of the United States, but also urged countries to dialogue. Trump said that the talks with North Korea possible «at the right time, in the right circumstances».
At the same time as Beijing and Moscow are suspected of violating UN sanctions against supplying North Korea with oil.
