The U.S. mission to the OSCE announced its decision to join the large-scale action SaveOlegSentsov for the release of Ukrainian Director of a Russian prison.
«We add our voice to the worldwide call to «Save Oleg Sentsov«, which became a victim of Russia’s campaign to suppress the votes of all the opponents of the occupation of the Crimea», — stated in the mission statement of 1 June on Twitter.

A rally in support of Oleg Sentsov, 14 may declared an indefinite hunger strike, held June 1-2 in more than 70 cities worldwide. For hunger Sentsov specifically chose the time before the world Cup in 2018, the final of which will take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July. Therefore, the Director is trying to secure the release of all Ukrainian prisoners held in Russian prisons. A symbol of the protests was a red card, which the activists of the «tell» to the Putin regime.
In St. Petersburg the action was attended by about 20 people.

Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov was detained in Crimea in 2014 on charges of preparing terrorist acts on the territory of the Peninsula and the creation of a terrorist community opposing the occupation of the Crimea. In August 2015, the court sentenced him to 20 years in prison of strict regime. Oleg Sentsov has not pleaded guilty. In 2017, it was transferred to the colony No. 8 («polar bear») in the town of Labytnangi in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district.
