On the Colorado river encountered 2 boats: 13 people were injured, 2 missing

Two people went under, after the Colorado river encountered 2 boats with dozens of tourists on Board. The accident happened on the morning of September 1 near the border between California and Arizona, Moabi Regional Park is a popular recreation area approximately 290 miles (466 km) East of Los Angeles.

According to police, one boat sank and the second received significant damage, but remained afloat. Trapped in the water passengers are picked up by passing boaters. At the moment of collision neither one of the victims was not a life vest, said the press-Secretary County Sheriff’s office Mojave Anita Mortensen.

According to Eric Sherwin, a representative of the San Bernardino County Fire District, 1 person in critical condition was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, another 6 were sent to local hospitals with less serious injuries and received minor injuries.

Sonar submarine did not find any of the missing, said Sherwin. With the onset of darkness the search was suspended until Sunday morning due to the increased danger to divers.

The incident occurred on the eve of labor Day, so on Board the boats there were a lot of passengers.
