Crash in Queens: prison guard accused of drunk driving. Passenger in critical condition

March 2 in new York, captain of Department of corrections crashed into an electric pole. In the accident the passenger was in critical condition.

The incident occurred on Laurel Hill Blvd. near Review Ave. about 7 o’clock in the evening.

According to preliminary police data, the culprit of the accident was 39-year-old captain Gonzalo Kuzma. The man told police that he lost control of the car and refused to check on the breathalyzer. A blood sample was later taken at a local hospital.

In the accident a colleague Kuzma Rafael Rodriguez, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, suffered severe injuries to the head and chest as well as hip fracture. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He is in critical condition, but doctors give positive forecasts for recovery.

Kuzma was charged with driving while intoxicated, causing serious injury to another person while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and refusal to be tested for the presence of alcohol in the body.

Kuzma and Rodriguez were not in service at the time of the accident.
