A skier died on a chair lift, by falling down – he was strangled with his own jacket

Male from new Jersey suffocated on a ski resort in Coloradowhen he fell through the seat on the chair lift, and his clothing was wrapped around the neck.

The incident occurred recently in the ski resort Blue Sky Basin at vail mountain, killing 46-year-old Jason Warner of Short hills (new Jersey).

According to Eagle County coroner Kara Bettis, the autopsy showed that Varnish died from positional asphyxia.

Initial investigation showed that the folding seat chair lift was in the upright position, leaving a gap. When Warner slipped into him, his jacket got stuck and strangled him.

«The jacket is wrapped around his neck,» said the coroner, Bettis.

Blue Sky Basin was temporarily closed after the incident.

«We take seriously all incidents and conduct a full investigation, the statement says Vail Resorts. – Lift has been thoroughly inspected and is working fine. Our staff expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased guest.»

Skiers frequent the resort’s Blue Sky Basin immediately remembered a similar incident in 2009 at the same lift, when the man was hanging upside down.

The man also slipped through seat chairlift, which was not folded properly, told the witness that incident, Marty Odom.
