In Mexico tourists arrested because they didn’t buy drinks at the beach bar

The couple was arrested at a Mexican beach because they didn’t buy drinks at the bar, which allegedly belonged to the beach.

According to The Sun, the incident occurred on February 16 at mamita’s beach in Playa del Carmen, where tourists were detained by local authorities. It is reported that the beach club has stated the violation of internal rules of institutions, as they are exclusively right for a beach area, where sunbathing couple and not buy any drinks at the bar. In turn, local residents claim that the beach is Federal property and customers can use them free of charge.

In the Internet appeared the video of the arrest in which the police in a rude manner hold tourists. It is also reported that the woman suffered trauma with subsequent bleeding during the arrest. Eyewitnesses reported that the behavior of the police was too extreme.

According to local media, Mexican law States that areas 20 metres from the coast are considered Federal property, and although the physical or legal entity can buy land in such areas, they cannot prohibit access to it.

In his message, Mamita’s Beach Club claims that the pair took the service area used by visitors and service personnel. According to the club, the staff politely asked a couple to take another place, however, their application of the ball greeted with «loud shouts and threats,» as well as the requirements to call the municipal police. Representatives from Mamita’s Beach Club take responsibility, claiming that the arrival of police employees leaving the scene of the incident.

«At the request of the pair was caused by the municipal authorities. Upon arrival officers our officers left the scene, leaving the situation in their hands. We don’t know the real reasons why the couple was arrested.» — stated in the message. «We appreciate your attention and I hope this clear up this misunderstanding and continue to make a positive contribution to our society.»
