More than 40 people were injured today, August 22, during a collision of two trains near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The incident occurred after midnight in the city of Upper Darby, a thirty minute drive from Philadelphia, said the transit authority southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPTA). High-speed train crashed into people standing on the station empty composition.
According to preliminary information, injuring 42 people, including the driver of a passenger train. «The victims were taken to nearby hospitals. Four people suffered serious injuries,» he told The Associated Press the mayor of Upper Darby Nicholas Micozzi.
Not yet known all the details of what happened and the investigation continues.
One of the witnesses said that the collision occurred just then, when he got up to head for the exit.
«I hit my head on the wall, almost punched her, and then everything went black and I slumped forward,» — said the victim. «There was blood everywhere».
