Lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will demand the abolition of the death penalty

Lawyers for the 25-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the organizers of the terrorist attack on the Boston marathon in 2013 — Thursday, December 27, filed papers in the U.S. court of appeals in Boston, asking to cancel his death sentence.

According to the lawyers, the judge refused to transfer the hearing is not the victim of the attack the town, thereby depriving Tsarnaev the right to impartial and fair trial.

In a 500-page brief, they stated that «the pretrial publicity caused the condemnation: the larger the potential juror has seen, the more likely it became that he will decide tsarnaev is guilty and deserves the death penalty».

The bomb was laid personally by Dzhokhar, killed 8 year old Martin Richard and 23-year-old Chinese exchange student Linzi Lou. Just because of the terrorist attack at the Boston marathon killed 3 people and injured more than 280.

July 10, 2013. in court Dzhokhar tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to 30 counts related to the attack on the Boston marathon.

January 30, 2014 , prosecutors announced they would seek the death penalty for Dzhokhar.

January 5, 2015 began jury selection from 1373 potential candidates. The selection of an impartial jury, which could consider the death penalty, took longer than expected.

26 Feb judge George O’toole, along with prosecutors and lawyers decided on 70 jurors.

On March 3, a jury of 8 men and 10 women (12 main jurors and 6 alternates) were elected.

March 4 in Federal court in Boston began the trial of Johara Tsarnaev.

April 8, jurors found Tsarnaev guilty on all 30 counts. The next step is the question of the death penalty.

May 15, 2015 Tsarnaev sentenced to death.
