Cuomo signed the Red Flag Bill that will protect students in new York schools from firing

Teachers and school administrators in new York can apply to the court demanding to ban potentially dangerous individuals purchase and own any type of firearm. The relevant law Governor Andrew Cuomo signed Monday, February 25, in the presence of the speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi and mother of teacher killed during shooting in Florida.

Red Flag Bill was created to prevent tragedies in schools, like the one that occurred on February 14, 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. Then a former student, 19-year-old Nicolas Cruz, shot and killed 17 people. It is known that the year before the guy left under one of the videos in YouTube comment: «I want to become a professional school shooter», but on Instagram he posted their photo with a gun in his hand. Nicolas Cruz was repeatedly threatened by students and teachers, and he got banned from the school grounds with a backpack. But this measure is not averted trouble. His victims, Cruz was shot from a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle that was purchased legally.

Linda Bagel-Shulman, mother of Scott Bagala teacher, a victim of the Florida shooter, while signing the bill said: «This is a very important day for all of new York state and for my family.» According to the woman, everyone at school knew that Cruz is dangerous, but «there was nothing I could do because there was no law.»

So, new York became the first state in which the law endorsed the right of teachers and school administrators to formally require the adoption of preventive measures against persons representing a potential threat to the safety of the students and teachers.

Please help him»,» said Cuomo, illuminating the principles of the new law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan.

Trump’s idea to arm school teachers so that they stop all dangerous situation on the ground — in classrooms, the Governor called funny. According to him, during a firefight between untrained people can be killed even more people.

«The concept of arming teachers is ridiculous. When a bad person enters the class, there may start firing, said Cuomo. — This idea is really funny and meaningless.»

The Governor also reminded about the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, which is the number of victims was the second mass killing at a school in U.S. history. 14 December 2012, 20-year-old Adam Peter Lanza shot home his mother, and then went to school and killed 20 kids 6-7 years of age, and 6 adults and wounded two, then committed suicide. Only on the day 28 people were killed (including the killer). Lenzi was with a rifle and pistols 9-th and 10-gauge. (The gun he left in the car.) All of it legally purchased the murderer’s mother, a big fan of weapons. A rifle Bushmaster AR-15, from which the guy opened fire, he had official permission.
