«Welcome to socialism»: a Congressman from California, commented on the law about straws in drinks

A very original statement on Twitter was made a member of the house of representatives from California, Republican Devin Nunes.

Tweet núñez wrote on the weekend, after visiting one of the restaurants in the Golden state.

«In the restaurant tonight and the waitress asked if we needed straws for drinks. Told him I had to ask about it, fearing «SALMENKOVA POLICE». Welcome to socialism in California!», — read a tweet of a Congressman.

Tonight At restaurant waitress asks if we want straws. Says she has to ask now in fear of “THE STRAW POLICE”. Welcome to Socialism in California!

California law restricts the use of plastic straws – they are given in restaurants and cafes only to those customers who ask. Earlier, a similar law was passed in Seattle (Washington) and in Washington (D. C.) due to the plastic pollution of the environment, particularly oceans. Plastic is not only harmful to animals when injected into their bodies, and can threaten human health.

Twitter users found the saying of núñez at least «strange».

«Environmental protection is socialism?!», — asked one of the users.

«Plastic single use is a major source of environmental pollution. So, Yes, «salmenkova the police» is good,» wrote another user.

Several people recalled Nunez that his farm receives government subsidies that more closely resembles socialism.

«Since 1975, farmers in your area, including you, has received $459 million in subsidies,» wrote a user named Doug.

Was in comments and jokes.

«Socialism is when you have to ask, does anyone have any straws» — Friedrich Engels, speech at the grave of Karl Marx (1883)».

«The restaurant asked me to refill the coffee. I’m scared for the country because the coffee police are coming for us».
