Russian President Vladimir Putin during a»Straight line» has offered political asylum to the former Director of the FBI James Komiif he is in need, and also compared the Komi Republic of Edward Snowden.
«If Komi will be under the threat of political persecution, we are ready to take it to Russia», — said Putin.
Komi recently testified in the Senate and confirmed that President Donald trump fired him because of the FBI investigation against the former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Komi also admitted that he gave his personal notes about conversations with trump in the media.
«It sounds and looks very strange when the head of the intelligence services record the conversation with the Supreme commander, and then another, through his friend, reports in the media. And what if the FBI Director is different from Mr Snowden?» — said Putin.
In his opinion, such an act does not of Komi the head of the security services and human rights activist.
We will remind, Edward Snowden was granted political asylum in Russia in 2013.
