President Donald trump announced in a statement that Wednesday, 5 December, declared National day of mourning in honor of former President George Bush, Sr., who died at the age of 94 years.

National day of mourning is the official day, which is approved by the government to the citizens of this country could honour the memory of the dead. Usually it is announced after the President’s death. The last time national day of mourning was appointed on 2 January 2007, after the death of Gerald Ford on December 22, 2006.

This day will close Federal offices and the main stock markets in the US, the new York stock exchange and the Nasdaq. The majority of state employees get the day off. Also may not work in some banks. The U.S. postal service will not make regular deliveries.
During the week events are held in honor of the former President. The official ceremony will take place on Wednesday in Washington, DC. The second ceremony and the funeral will be held Thursday in Houston.
In his proclamation the President trump said, «I urge American citizens to gather in that day… to pay tribute to the memory of President George H. W. Bush. I invite people around the world who share our grief to join us in holding this ceremony.»
