The US wants to increase the fee for a petition to immigration for the first time in history to make a collection for those seeking asylum

On Friday, November 8, the administration of President Donald trump has put forward a proposal to increase the fee for the filing of applications for immigrants seeking to remain in the United States, including the first ever charge to those seeking asylum. This is the last step of the administration to limit the ways of obtaining asylum and immigration benefits.

Service citizenship and US immigration services (USCIS) published a proposed rule that would increase the fee for petitions for immigrants wishing to obtain U.S. citizenship for young illegal immigrants who want to resume protection from deportation and for victims of crimes who remain in the country for assistance to law enforcement authorities.

This proposal will include a fee for applying for asylum in the amount of $50 and a fee for permission to obtain employment in the amount of $490. The fee for a petition for citizenship will also increase from $750 to $1170, and for some immigrants, this amount may be higher.

«This is an unprecedented militarization of the state taxes,» said Doug Rand, the White house spokesman Obama, who became the co-founder of helping foreigners navigate the immigration system of the United States.

Iran, Fiji and Australia are the only countries that charge a fee for initial application for asylum.

After publication in the Federal register proposed rule will be subject to a 30-day study, during which the public will be able to comment on it. The next step in the regulatory process for USCIS is to publish a final decision, which will come into force.
