If we analyze the sizes of apartments in the United States over the past decade, the results show that the new apartments have a 5% smaller area, and average rent increased by 28%.
Manhattan shared second place with Chicago, with an average area of apartments in 68,09 sq. m, and lost the first Seattle – 66,05 sq. m. Data for the year show that the average area in the country is 87.4 sq. m.
In 2018, the average rent in Manhattan was $4 181 in October, compared with $4 021 in the same month last year. But there is relatively good news: the average area of housing in Manhattan increased by 12% from 2008 to 2018. It is the fourth largest increase in the country.
