The Governor of new York Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday, may 7, that a moratorium on the eviction of arendatorin the state extended for another 60 days as the state continues to struggle with flash COVID-19.
During their daily briefing on the coronavirus Cuomo said that the moratorium, whose term was to expire on 20 June, will now be valid until August 20, and this period will not be charged for late payment.
«No one can be evicted for nonpayment of rent, residential or commercial, to 20 August, said Cuomo. — I hope this will give families a break».
According to Cuomo, tenants will also be able to use your security Deposit to pay the rent. For landlords, the state is working with banks on plans of assistance.
«We are trying to reach a compromise between tenants and landlords. We also help landlords, but I just like human beings do not want to evicted families at this difficult time,» added the Governor.
