The Prospect Ave station in Brooklyn is open following a 6-month renovation

Of all the problems faced by the MTA this year, at least, one is almost solved and everything is done on time. The Initiative to expand metro stations (Enhanced Station Initiative) cost $ 72 million, the execution of which began at the beginning of this year has already been updated 2 station — Bay Ridge Avenue and 53rd Street, on the line R. a further 28 stations will be repaired and extended to 2020.

Station Prospect Avenue, located on the line R, is now officially open. She was completely cleared, there has been redecorated and introduced some technical improvements.

The station first opened in 1915, and closed for reconstruction in June, had a rather shabby appearance.

Now Prospect Avenue is brand new. Here came the countdown clock until the arrival of the train (both inside the station and its entrances), Wi-Fi and USB ports, digital signage, ramps, new seats, etc. moreover, the station is decorated with new colorful mosaic designed by artist from Brooklyn, Monica Bravo.

Now the turn comes for the reconstruction of Queens. Last month the station on 30 Ave and 36 Ave in Astoria was closed to facilitate repairs. Presumably, the work would be completed in 8 months.
