Environmentalists predict «chronic flooding» in new York

According to the Union of concerned scientists, due to emissions of carbon dioxide can occur, the probability of floods, the capacity of which will reach hurricane sandy (tropical cyclone that brought massive destruction in 2012). Floods can occur with frequency of at least 2 per month.

Floods that occur more than 26 times a year, called «chronic». The first such series of floods scientists expect in 2030, then they will occur approximately every 20 years.

Scientists say that despite the fact that the damage from such flooding will be less than from storms caused by hurricanes, the danger lies in their regularity. However, it is possible to delay such natural disasters, provided that there will be made attempts to curb climate change.
