Someone washed away tens of thousands of euros in Swiss toilets

Switzerland is considered to be one of the richest countries in the world. Of course, money on the way there not lying: they prefer to keep in Bank accounts with lots of zeros, and, as it turned out,… restrooms.

The fact that shortly before the beginning of the summer in the toilet of one of the branches of the largest Swiss Bank UBS AG in Geneva unknown flushed banknotes of €500.

Is it a coincidence, but this restroom is located near the Bank vaultwhere money, documents and securities of clients are kept within the Depository of hundreds of cells.

A few days later history repeated itself in the toilets of the three restaurants. The total amount of all detected money amounted to about €100,000. However, most of the bills were cut with scissors.

That in Geneva the toilets «stored» untold riches, became known after washed, the bills huddled in the sewers. Ironically, cleaning the pipes and plumbing repairs cost in thousands of francs.

The Geneva Prosecutor’s office took over the investigation of this case. At the moment there is a version that the money belongs to the Spaniards, who a few years ago put their funds in a Bank vault. This writes the Tribune de Geneve.

“We’re not a very interesting motive, but we want to be sure the origin of money,” said Vincent Durand. He added that the destruction of banknotes in Switzerland is not considered a crime.

It should be noted that in 2018 the European Central Bank will stop issuing large banknotes because of concerns that they contribute to illegal activities.
