Last week in a wooded area in South Korea was discovered unmanned aerial vehicle with a camera drone, which was allegedly managed by the North Korean side. It crashed near the border with North Korea.
Today, June 13, the Ministry of defense of South Korea said that on the map the device memory capacity of 64 GB have been found about 10 photos owned by the US anti-missile system THAAD, the base of which lies in the South Korean County Seongju County, 250 km from the border.
The drone was equipped with a Sony camera, the pictures which were taken at a height of 2-3 km above the THAAD. However, the photo resolution was pretty low.
The drone was very similar to the North Korean drone found near the border between the two Koreas in 2014. Given this fact, the South Korean military has suggested that the new aircraft belongs to their Northern neighbor.
South Korea joint chiefs of staff promised to initiate measures to combat the North Korean drones.
According to the United Nations, adopted by the DPRK consist of nearly 300 unmanned aerial vehicles, both military and intelligence. Likely that they were purchased from Chinese companies.
