Russian athletes again refused from participation in the 2018 Olympics

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) refused 15 Russian representatives to take part in The Olympics in 2018.

This Friday, February 9, there will be an opening the winter Olympic games in Pyeongchang. In this regard, the Russian Olympic Committee appealed to IOC with a request to allow the 13 athletes and two coaches from Russia to participate in the competition after the decision of the arbitration court (CAS) in their favor.

Today, 5 February, the IOC released a statement in which it said that the special Commission considered the applications for each specific case, but the CAS decision has not changed their opinions. The Commission reported that there is new evidence regarding traces of prohibited substances and manipulation of steroid profiles, so potentially 15 athletes could also violate anti-doping rules.

According to the official website of the Olympiad, the event is attended by at least 168 of the Russian athletes, among which there are athletes not allowed the IOC.

After the CAS decision, one of the gold medalists skier Alexander Legkov admitted that for him this day was the second birthday. Perhaps the athlete will change his opinion on this matter.
