After the mother of the little Jasper gave birth to him on the way to the hospital, the official birth of the baby was the M60 motorway.
Pregnant Hannah Pickup and her beloved Matthew Taylor rushed to the maternity ward as soon as I realized that the woman childbirth began. But the kid was in such a hurry to be born that Hannah had to give birth on the way to the hospital — right in the car. Jasper was born when they were passing Clifton junction on the motorway South of Manchester, after which the birth certificate the boy is officially stated place of birth: «M60 junction 16, on the way to the Park Oakwood, Salford».
34-year-old Hannah gave birth very quickly: it is assumed that childbirth is three days, as during the birth of her first son Bruce — however, Jasper was born after a few contractions.
«It all happened so fast that we did not have time to panic.» recalls Hannah. «I was very concerned, because I didn’t know what to do, but instincts took the better of me. Surprisingly, everything went quite calmly.»
After a moment the mother hugged her newborn son, at the time, as the umbilical cord was still in place. According to Hanna, when Jasper started to cry she realized that «he’s fine.»
When confused Matthew finally took his family to a hospital in Manchester, they didn’t even know the sex of their newborn child. Soon the nurses at the maternity Department announced that 19 January 2019 Matthew and Hannah, was born a boy weighing 4 kg 139 g. the Doctors let the parents take the baby home to Ramsbottom in the evening.
Hannah shares what a quick and relatively easy birth of the baby shocked her. The mother, now of two sons, believes that the unusual appearance of Jasper makes it special.
«When he’s older, he’ll be known as a child born on the M60.» says Hanna.
