Died the former President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, died on 92-m to year of life in Cairo.

It is reported by several local media and by Reuters, citing state TV of Egypt.

Yesterday, February 24, edition of Egypt Independent, citing a lawyer of the former President said that due to the health problems of Mubarak was transferred to intensive care.

Hosni Mubarak became President of Egypt in 1981 after the previous head of state was killed during a military parade.

In 2011 in Egypt began mass protests of citizens. The protesters demanded lifting the state of emergency, combat unemployment, increase the minimum wage, solve the problems of lack of housing, stop the growth of food prices, freedom of speech and increasing quality of life.

The evening of 11 February 2011, Hosni Mubarak has left the Sharm El-Sheikh and resigned the powers of the presidency, handing over power to the Supreme Council of the Armed forces.

On 19 March a referendum was held to change the Constitution which limited the power of the President.

After the resignation of Hosni Mubarak had been under house arrest at his residence.

April 13, 2011, Hosni Mubarak was taken into custody. At trial, he was convicted of corruption and sentenced to prison. In 2017, it was released after six years in prison.

March 2, 2017, an Egyptian court stripped the former head of state of all charges of involvement in the deaths of protesters during the 2011 revolution. This decision is final and is not subject to appeal.
