Thursday, June 13, 55-year-old Joseph Allen from Avenel (NJ) was found dead in his room at Terra Linda Resort in Sosua. Tourist who came to celebrate a friend’s birthday, became the eighth American died in the Dominican Republic over the last year.
According to pals, the night before his death, Allen complained about the heat and said that he would go to his room to take a shower and lie down. The next morning, his maid found the body lying on the floor at the entrance to the bathroom.
Family members say that the man often went to the Dominican Republic and at the time of death was perfectly healthy.

The death of Joseph, is preceded by at least seven similar incidents: they occurred over the past year, and under similar circumstances. On the last death, it was discovered June 10: the body of 53-year-old Leila Cox of new York found in her room — as in the case with Allen. Relatives of the women also claimed that she had no health problems and are confident that the local police are hiding something.
While the Dominican authorities continue to insist that the tragedy not linked, us experts suspect that at least four of the dead Americans could be poisoned by counterfeit alcohol.
