In new York began dismantling the Kosciuszko Bridge

It’s not every day you can see the amazing spectacle of the bridge, floating down the river on a barge.

The first stage of the dismantling of the bridge Kosciuszko Bridge began today, two weeks later than the originally scheduled date of July 11. From about 10 a.m. to noon, workers used cables to lower the Central part of the bridge is 91 meters long, 27 meters wide and 15 meters at the highest point on the two barges. Next destination of the old bridge will become the processing factory in new Jersey. A total of 26 million pounds (12 700 tonnes) of steel will be recycled from this part of the bridge.

To minimize harmful effects on the environment, Department of transportation, it was decided to perform a series of small explosions in the sections of the bridge, and not one of the biggest procedure of demolition.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt opened the old bridge in 1939. The new bridge Kosciuszko Bridge, which opened in April, Governor Cuomo, was the first bridge built in new York since the opening of the Verrazano Bridge in 1964. The final introduction of the bridge will occur in early 2020, when will the five lanes in the direction of Queens, four lanes for those heading to Brooklyn, a bike lane and a pedestrian path with a width of 20 feet.
